My approach to treating patients

I created this site to familiarize you with my Hand and Orthopaedic Surgery practice, my dedicated staff, and the service we provide. I am a Board Certified Orthopaedic Surgeon with subspecialty interest in disorders of the hand, wrist and elbow. I have also obtained a Certificate of Added Qualifications in Surgery of the Hand following advanced Fellowship training in Hand and Microsurgery.

I was born and raised here in New Orleans and completed almost all of my education here in town at Newman, Tulane Biomedical Engineering, LSU Medical School, and Orthopaedic Surgery at Charity Hospital. Following one final year of Hand Surgery training in Seattle, I joined the Bone and Joint Clinic in 2002.

I look forward to working with my patients on an individual and personal level. I believe it is imperative to ensure that patients are both educated about their condition as well as involved in their treatment decisions. This can only be achieved with thorough communication. I will personally perform your evaluation and discuss all of the findings and options with you. Only after all of the benefits and implications of the different treatments have been explained can proper decisions be made.

Often X-rays are needed to further assist in diagnoses which will be provided in the office. Many times patients can be treated with exercises, injections, braces, casts or physical therapy, all of which are offered on site in our clinic. Should surgery be found necessary, an Ambulatory Surgery Center is also available in our Marrero office. Additional imaging such as MRI, CT scan and ultrasound is also provided very nearby.

I hope that you find this site useful. Please see the links provided for more information about my education, experience and clinical practice. Additionally, excellent patient education information is provided on many musculoskeletal health topics. Thank you for visiting.

Community activities

My practice is in the same community where my family and I live. So, it is very important that I remain active in the community. I’ve known some of my patients for years before they visited my office.

I have coached both little league baseball and soccer programs , and my practice provided volunteer medical services. These activities introduced us to many local families and young athletes in the community – this in turn allowed me to gain a better understanding of our community’s medical needs. We expanded the scope of our practice to include specialized care for the elderly as well as for our athletes. We also like to give back to a community that has given so much to us. Therefore, we support and take an active role in the following local programs: PAC Sports, Highschool physical examinations,Educational charities, and much more.

I mentor Tulane Medical Students so that they may develope a love for Orthopedics as well!

My duties also include supporting the Gretna Police Force and the Jefferson Parish Sheriff’s Department during disasters and crises since Hurricane Katrina. After the devastating earthquake in Haiti I travelled to Port au Prince for a week to assist in the recovery effort by working in the hospital tent at the airport there.

Community is important to us here at the Bone and Joint Clinic so we all pitch in when we can.
